Morning: Begin your 3-day Mikumi National Park safari with an early departure from Dar es Salaam at 5 AM on the SGR Train. The train journey offers spectacular views as you travel through the Tanzanian countryside, heading toward Morogoro. On arrival in Morogoro, your safari guide will meet you for the drive to Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most accessible and wildlife-rich parks. Midday: Upon arrival at your lodge, enjoy a delicious lunch and the beauty of the African wilderness. Afternoon: Head out on your first game drive, exploring the Mkata Floodplain, often compared to the famous Serengeti Plains for its rich wildlife. Spot herds of elephants, giraffes, and zebras, and keep your eyes open for lions and leopards lurking in the tall grass. As the sun sets, return to your lodge for a peaceful evening. Drive through the open savannah and venture into wooded areas where more elusive animals, such as leopards, may hide. Midday: Pause for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park, taking in the vast, untouched landscape. Afternoon: Continue your wildlife safari through the park’s different ecosystems. Visit the Hippo Pools to see hippos basking in the water and crocodiles along the riverbanks. Capture stunning photographs as the late afternoon light enhances the colours of the savannah.
