Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge – Monkey Island – Night Activity
Reception at the airport, bus station or hotel... 10 hours
Reception at the airport, bus station or hotel in Puerto Maldonado, transfer you to our office, then departure to the river port where we will take the boat, which will take us to arrive to our lodge 40 minutes navigating along the Madre de Dios River, Welcome meeting, with a delicious local fruit juice and to know our installation and facilities in your private lodge. After lunch will go by boat to visit a monkey island, will try to find out some family monkey inside, walking and calling them because we might bring some pieces of bananas or any fruit that doesn’t grow in the island. Back to the lodge, at night will do a caiman’s searching in the river, back to the lodge and dinner.
Sandoval Lake Full Day Exploring - Night Activity
After breakfast, we will go out to the... 10 hours
After breakfast, we will go out to the Tambopata National Reserve where we will walk about 5 km. Amidst the dense tropical jungle, up to Sandoval Lake, one of the largest in the Tambopata Reserve, this lake offers a spectacular view of the landscape and we will see many wild animals along the trail, very good for bird lovers and you almost always see two or three species of monkeys. Typical lunch of the region, after lunch we will take a rowing boat ride and enjoy the wide variety of birds and monkeys of different species shanshos, ( prehistoric bird), cormorants, jacanas, puma heron, howler monkeys, squirrel monkey, black capuchin monkey, tamarin monkey and sloth). With luck we will encounter a family of giant otters (nearly two meters long) and the largest recorded alligator measuring over 4 meters long. Return to the lodge in the afternoon. After the activity, we can relax and enjoy the lodge's facilities or go for a short walk, then, at night, we’ll do a night walk.

In terms of ecotourism, Lake Sandoval is considered the most beautiful lake in the Peruvian rainforest. This lake covers an area of 3 km long by 1 km wide, and its depth ranges between half a meter and three meters. The lake is shaped like a crescent moon, and its waters generally reach a temperature of 26°C. Fauna. It is a wildlife sanctuary (giant otter or river wolf, black caiman, several species of macaws and parrots, kingfishers, turtles, monkeys, herons, and cranes, among other rainforest fauna). It is a biodiversity reserve with more than 1,000 species of birds.

Early morning will get up starting 4:30 am for visit a Parrots clay lick that is about 1 hour upstream located, passing the town also best time to see sunrise, once will arrive we need to way for parrots to come from differents locations, that nature show will be aproximatly 45 minutes, in the way back will try to find some birds like toucans and the ever sought after 2 and 3 toed sloth. Back for breakfast, in the lodge, restarting at 9:30 am for live the experience visiting a farm where we will learn about the medicinal plants, also the canopy tower activity. After having enjoyed lunch, we will go piranha fishing in a river that is part of the Tambopata Reserve (catch and release), and we’ll observe many birds and possibly some other animals. Then we’ll return to the city and head straight to the airport or the bus station.
