Rainbow Mountain Full Day Trip.

The Rainbow Mountain of Peru, also known as Winicunca, is impressive and can be seen in the spectacular Ausangate area. This trip that allows you to see the Rainbow Mountains requires a walk of at least 4 hours (2 hours each way up and down the mountain).

On this trek you will see picturesque villages, beautiful adobe houses, herds of llamas and alpacas and have magnificent views of Ausangate Mountain (6,385m/20,945ft), the highest mountain in the Cusco region.
Cusco - Pitumarka - Hanchi Pacha (4180m / 13715ft) - K'airahuiri Alto (4700m / 15255ft) Rainbow Mountain.
We leave Cusco very early. at 3:00 a.m. picking you up from the hotel To begin with, our journey heads to Puno, and we travel along a stretch of paved highland road through the fertile Vilcanota Valley. We will leave after 2 hours and 15 minutes on an unpaved road, stopping in the picturesque town of Checacupe. After a visit to the Colonial Church of the Immaculate Conception, we will begin to ascend to the Pitumarka Valley.
We arrive at the city of Pitumarka we will make a stop to have our breakfast, here we can buy some handicrafts if you wish before continuing to the town of Hanchi Pacha. From here it's another hour, traveling through beautiful and picturesque valleys and canyons. Sensing our approach, the llamas and alpacas watch from their pasture with curious glances. There are some interesting rock formations on this section of road, and we'll definitely make time for scenic photos!
We must reach the town of Hanchi Pacha after a total of 3 hours of travel from Cusco. From there we will start our ascent to the ARIS mountain, in this place we will meet our local rider who will accompany us on our short adventure.
Along the route, there may also be the chance to meet one of the local weavers who keep an eye on their flocks as they weave. This region, Quisipicanchis, has a wonderful textile tradition. This walk is approximately 2 hours, ascending steadily until reaching the town of K'airahuiri Bajo (4,550 m / 14,925 ft). Here, we'll get great views of the magnificent valley and surrounding mountains. after about 20 more minutes
about an hour and a half to Vinicunca Vinicunca 5000m/16400ft Pass. At this point, our breathing will become increasingly labored as we gain altitude. Once we reach the top of the pass there may be a few gusts of cold wind so make sure you are warm and your head is covered with a wool hat.
You will be rewarded for your effort when you finally see the incredible Vinicunca, with its colorful layers of rocky sediments: turquoise, orange, brown and red. In addition to the excellent views of the colorful mountain, you will have impressive views of the snow-capped Apu Ausangate, when the day is clear.
After some time to rest and take pictures and the opportunity to observe an impressive sunrise, we will return to where we came until we reach the starting point of the trailhead. The walk back downhill will be much quicker than the way up and will take around 2-2.5 hours. There will be plenty of beautiful scenery to feast our eyes on along the way.
We will have an early lunch in Pitumarka on the return to Cusco and then we will return to Cusco in our private transportation. We must arrive in Cusco at approximately 4 p.m.
