We passed by the place. The National Palace of Sintra, also known as Palácio da Vila, was one of the palaces used by the Portuguese Royal Family practically until the end of the Monarchy, in 1910. With urban implantation, its construction began in the 15th century, with traces of an unknown author. It features features of medieval, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance and Romantic architecture. It is considered an example of organic architecture, of a set of apparently separate bodies, but which are part of an articulated whole, through patios, stairs, corridors and galleries. It has the largest set of Mudejar tiles in the country. It is dominated by two large twin chimneys that crown the kitchen and constitute the "ex-libris" of Sintra.

From the Palace, visitors can see a mantle of trees covering more than 200 hectares. This park has beautiful paths and walks, with numerous garden constructions existing there. There are bridges and caves, garden benches, pergolas and fountains. Greenhouses and nurseries with camellias, rhododendrons and roses of unusual and very rare strains. The palace is located on the slopes of the mountains and a short distance from the historic center of Sintra. Carvalho Monteiro, through the lines of the Italian architect Luigi Manini, transforms the 4-hectare farm into a palace surrounded by lush gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic buildings, places that hide alchemical meanings, such as those evoked by Freemasonry, Templars and Rosicrucians. It models the space in mixed layouts, which evoke Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Manueline architecture. Quinta da Regaleira is a place to feel. It is not enough to tell him about the memory, the landscape, the mysteries.
