Our tour starts in the city of Bergen - the Gateway to the Fjords. The city was founded in 1070 and contains many historical and cultural landmarks. We will pass some of them on our way from the city and on our return to Bergen. The suggested scheduled time for departure is 09:00am.
Sørfjorden or South fjord is part of Osterfjord... 1 minute
Sørfjorden or South fjord is part of Osterfjord which is a peculiar natural phenomenon: an salt water inlet that surrounds the largest inland island in Northern Europe - Osterøy Island - enclosed by continental land. We drive along the South fjord until we come to the crossroads in Trengereid. (Usually, we do not stop here.)

Hardangervegen or Hardanger Road is Norwegian route #7. This road is a tourist attraction. We will see beautiful sights along the way: mountains, lakes and waterfalls. On the way to Hardangerfjord we will make two photo stops at 2 waterfalls: Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen.

A short walking tour to the bottom of the waterfall is highly recommended - you simply must feel the roaring freshness and gentle and pure water drops on your face.

After passing through two quaint small towns Norheimsund and Øystese, we take a short detour to the Goldfish Lake – Skårsvatnet – a special lake with a large population of golden orfe. The fish is tame and most of the times can be observed very close to the shore.

After the Goldfish Lake we continue on to Fyksesundet – a narrow fjord, which we cross on Fyksesund suspension bridge, built in 1937.

On the other side of Fyksesundet lies Steinstø – a small farming community with Steinstø fruit farm and fruit kiosk and café. We can stop there for a cup of coffee, a piece of apple pie and a view of the fjord.

On our way to Voss we take a short detour on an alternate road and make a stop at one more waterfall: Skjervsfossen, with its twin falls plunging out from a height of 150 metres.

After leaving Skjervsfossen waterfall we come to Voss. The main historical attractions are Vangskyrkja – a church from 1277, and the St.Olaf's cross from 1023. We will make a stop here to take Voss Gondol cable car to the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level).

We take the cable car up the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level). The tickets are included in the price. The ride take only a couple of minutes. The view is spectacular! At the top of the mountain there is a restaurant, where we can have a meal (not included). The restaurant serves homemade meals, based on local ingredients from several farms in and around Voss. The menu is based on the simple and rustic, combined with great flavours. Due to the restaurant's high focus on local ingredients, the menu changes every day! Our tour can be extended – for extra payment for additional time: During the period without snow we could go for a short hike in the mountains, starting and finishing the hike at the top of the mountain. During the winter period with snow your guide can help you with renting skis and other equipment, and you can try out the slopes.
