Santa Maria de L'Estela is one of the most surprising and unknown viewpoints of the Empordà, where there is a small Romanesque hermitage from the 12th century. L'Estela offers us a magnificent panoramic view on clear days.

Documented since the year 977, when the bishop count Miró II of Besalú, donated some lands of the Lucduno term to the monastery of San Pedro de Besalú. In its term have been found remains of the Roman era, of ceramic fragments and remains of villas. The population is located to the left of the river Manol. Its old core is made up of narrow streets with typical stone houses. It has a large main square, on one side of this square is the old Augustinian canon of Santa María de Lladó, in Romanesque style from the 12th century. Some of whose dependencies of the monastery have become part of the town hall and others, of private houses.
