The history of this hotel began 100 years ago, at the dawn of the 20th century, when Barranquilla stood out as the development pole of the country and the entire Caribbean. River navigation, aviation, broadcasting and sports quickly turned a hamlet of dusty streets from there known as the Arenosa, into a model in Latin America. The idea of building a modern hotel for the burgeoning Barranquilla of the 20th century was the American Karl C. Parrish, the same who seven years ago had begun the construction of the El Prado urbanization, sector in the north of the city where the hotel is located and that 100 years later is considered as one of the architectural jewels of Barranquilla and the Colombian Caribbean. Given the promising panorama of the city, which attracted entrepreneurs, the work was inaugurated on February 15, 1930 and was the first international tourist hotel in the city, which became a mandatory reference site.
