The Palazzo della Ragione and Santa Maria Maggiore harken back to the municipal period, while the Colleoni Chapel, built to house the Mausoleum of the Condottiero and his daughter, brings Renaissance elegance to life. In Piazza Vecchia stands the Palazzo del Podestà, symbol of Venetian power over Bergamo, built in the 14th century and frescoed by Bramante in 1477.
