The Arch 22 is a monument located in on the Banjul-Serrekunda Highway. The monument was built to mark the military coup in 1994 through which former president Yahya Jammeh came to power. The arch is 35 meters high and is designed by a senegalese architect called Pierre Goudiaby Atepa. Goudiaby Atepa hasdesigned a lot of interesting buildings such as the BCEAO bank headquarters in Dakar and the ECOWAS building in Lomé, Togo. You also find the Arch depicted on the back of the 100 dalasi. The lift to the Arch is not always working so you might have to climb some stairs.
