Vilnius to Trakai

In the morning we will guide You through the main sights of Vilnius Old Town and around and give a background to our history and culture. You will not miss our favorite artistic Užupis district and find out about the smallest self proclaimed republic in Europe. After the sightseeing, the guide will lead you to the famous and oldest Vilnius food market – Hales market where you will have an opportunity to meet local food producers and sellers, ask them questions and bring home the real flavour of Lithuania. You will visit 4 or 5 different places and try the best taste of Lithuanian handcrafted cheese, rustic meat products, bagels and juice. Keep in mind, all products are created according to authentic recipes and tastes cherished by Lithuanian farmers.
In the afternoon we will visit Trakai, our... 2 hours
In the afternoon we will visit Trakai, our historical capital and will admire its medieval castle build on the island of the lake Galve. It is also the only historical national park in Europe. Trakai takes a great pride from having been the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania although the Grand Duke ruled from this area only for a couple of years in 1321-1322. Even after the move of the ruling family to Vilnius Trakai remained an important city, the capital of one of the several Voivodships of Lithuania from 1375 until the 18th century. Trakai is definitely a must visit place for foodies because of the local specialty – Kibinai – brought to us centuries ago by Karaim people from Crimea. You can taste this delicious meal while visiting Trakai and even try to make it yourself! (OPTIONAL)
Dzukija national park visit

On this day you will have a daytrip full of memorable and delicious experiences while exploring Dzukija national park. We will visit Zervynos ethnographic village surrounded by forests and river Ula. You will see the traditional wooden architecture and layout that is preserved from the 18th century. During this trip you will visit a local homestead where you will learn about the traditional Dzukian cuisine and have chance to make and taste your own Dzukian specialty baked on the cabbage leave - dzuku banda and ragaisis (OPTIONAL) You will also visit a local homestead where you will get to know more about Lithuanian cheese makers and farmers production, and have a little degustation of local cheeses. Order of visited sites may differ from description.
From Vilnius to Riga
Day four is mostly for travelling from Vilnius... 6 hours
Day four is mostly for travelling from Vilnius to Riga, but you have some sightseeing on the way with a stop at the small Lithuanian farm where you will spend a few relaxing hours surrounded by a heritage garden and real animals - bees, goats, sheep, dogs and cats. In this farmstead you will have a delicious hearty lunch prepared by our local hosts who say they are creating happiness and happy food which they want to share with their visitors. You will feel like at home in this lovely farm and a few hours will pass like minutes. After lunch you will continue a trip to Latvia and there will be one more stop on the way - in the Hill of Crosses, one of the most holy sites of Catholic Lithuania. The exact number of crosses is unknown, but estimates put it at about 100.000. Some say it’s the most spiritually touching place to be in all Lithuania. We will spend there up to one hour and then continue driving to Latvian capital Riga. Evening in the city at your own pace.

Founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, Riga is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a true kaleidoscope of various architectural styles. The walking tour (2 hours) of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, Swedish Gates, Three Brothers, Large and Small Guild House and the Freedom Monument. In the afternoon you may have an optional trip to Kemeri national park and visit Latvian seaside with cosy fishermen villages where you will try locally smoked fish. Kemeri national park is famous for its forests and marslands where you will walk in the picturesque bog and may even spot some local bird species.
Riga - Gauja national park - Tallinn

After breakfast we will go to Tallinn with a stop in Gauja National Park, the largest national park in Latvia. The guide takes you to the stunning scenery of the Gauja river valley around the town of Sigulda. You will visit Gutman’s Ala, the largest sandstone cave in the Baltic states where you will hear the medieval Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida which will lead you to explore the ruins of the Turaida Castle and the Museum Reserve.
Reserve 4 hours
Reserve. Later we will pass Latvian town Valmiera famous for it’s craft beer brewery tradition. We will visit Valmiermuizas brewery, have a tour inside and learn the secrets of turning water into various types of beer. This tour will be followed by a beer tasting so you can choose your favourite! The we continue our trip to Tallinn where you will have an evening at your leisure.

This day you will explore Estonian food scene... 6 hours
This day you will explore Estonian food scene while on a walking tour through the most beautiful parts of the Old Town and nearby Kalamaja quarter. You will hear exciting stories about Estonian history and the country today and get to feel and know Estonia through its kitchen. You will make a few stops for food and drink based on traditional and modern Estonian cuisine. You will experience smells and flavours in the Baltic station market, try local soup,black rye bread, typical open sandwiches and sweets. Variety of tastings may differ from season to season. In the afternoon you can opt for traditional Estonian liqueurs tasting.
