Sighnaghi is a small town in the east... 2 hours

Sighnaghi is a small town in the east of Georgia situated on the mountainside in the historical region of Kakheti. It was founded in the 17th century during the reign of King Erekle II of Georgia, and as locals say, it is the only city in Georgia that has fully preserved with fortification wall which is one of the biggest wall in the world. The great wall is crowned with 27 watchtowers and 6 gates where travelers can climb to get the magnificent view of the Alazani valley. New life of Sighnaghi started in 2007 when it changed into a European town. Its architecture with narrow cobbled streets and beautiful balconies will not leave you indifferent. The town has two central squares with wedding house where couple can marry anytime of the day. Thus, Sighnaghi is called the city of love. You will find many cosy places, hotels and hostels to your taste, street cafes and restaurants, where you can try the home-made Kakhetian wines: Saperavi, Kindzmarauli, Rkaciteli, Mtsvane… There goes a long list.
