Dr. William Edward Burgardt is considered the father of Pan Africanism. He was invited by the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, to Ghana to edit an encyclopedia of African history and was given a home to live in with his wife till he passed on. His home is now a Museum known as the W.E.B Du Bois Centre. The centre has instore Dr. Du Bois’ personal belongings, honorary awards and numerous publications in his library on display. His tomb and the cremated body of the wife can be found at the centre as well.

In 1961, during the visit of Queen Elisabeth II and Prince Charles to Ghana, the black star square also known as the independence square was commissioned by the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. At the square, guests would get to see the independence arc, the black star gate and the monument of Liberation. The site is a very large open space bounded by stands that can seat about 30,000 people. It was built to commemorate the independence of Ghana as symbol of self-reliance and a place of national unity. The space is used to host other national, religious and commercial events like political rallies and entertainment concerts.

The Arts and Craft Market is a community of stalls where crafts and souvenirs inspired by the Ghanaian culture like kente cloths, beads, carvings and many other accessories are exhibited for purchase. Vendors are also always at the service of guests and are willing to persuade in their bid to convince guests to consider their wares since there are similar items available at the same venue by various sellers as well.

The museum houses the personal effects and publications of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah at various stages of his life from childhood to his political life till his overthrow and death. There are some pictures and videos showing his life history with some famous personalities across the world. The premise was where Kwame Nkrumah stood to declare Ghana independent.
