Pick up from Lhasa airport or train stations
Your Tibetan guide and driver will greet you... 4 hours
Your Tibetan guide and driver will greet you at the airport or train station and present you with a Kada (the traditional Tibetan ceremonial white scarf) to Welcome you to Tibet :) Then will be drive around 40-50 minutes to Lhasa city if you take plane to Lhasa or drive 20 minutes to Lhasa city if you board train to Lhasa and transferred to your hotel. Along the way, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhasa River, and the typical Tibetan villages and highland barley seeds farms. Later your guide will introduce you to the other members of your group once all are in Lhasa. And will discuss about tour schedule in Tibet. Then will show you some of local, Chinese and continental dish restaurants for the dinner. On your arrival of the first day must be take an easy, relax and keep hydrated by drinking warm water or home temperature water. Will be very helpful to acclimatize to the high altitude.

In the morning, we will head to Drepung Monastery, which means “Monastery of Rice Heap” in Tibetan. The entire complex is large in scale, with white buildings clustering and covering the mountainside. Drepung Monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery and housed over 10,000 monks at its peak. From the First to the Fifth Dalai Lama, all held their enthronement ceremonies here, and every Dalai Lama has regarded Drepung as their “mother monastery,” making it also the highest-ranking monastery within the Gelug School.

Today, you will visit the most famous Potala Palace, which is the cardinal landmark of Tibet and the masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. Potala Palace was the winter palace of successive Dalai lamas. In possession of rich cultural heritage, Potala Palace is known as the "pearl on the roof of the world. At the top the palace called golden roofs, you can have a bird-eye view of the whole of Lhasa. In the distance there are undulating mountain ranges, the beautiful Lhasa River, tracts of fields, tree-shaded villages and the glistening Jokhang Temple.

Today, we depart from Lhasa with all your luggage and begin your two-day journey to explore the ancient city and the highland barley storehouses of Tibet. Your route will take us through stunning landscapes approximately 50 km outside Lhasa. We will ascend to the summit of the Khampala Pass, where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake. Yamdrok Lake is located in Nangkar Tse County in the Shannan region, less than 100 kilometers from Lhasa. It is considered one of Tibet’s three holy lakes, along with Namtso and Manasarovar. In the morning, you will leave Shigatse to Lhatse, a small town located 150 km from Shigatse, and you may have lunch in the local restaurant. After a short rest, you will go ahead to Tingri. You will pass through the first high mountain pass - Tsola Pass(4,600m), then the second one-Gyatsola Pass(5,248m), the mountain pass of Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, with countless prayer flags flying in the wind. Afterward, you will keep ascending to Gawula Pass (5,198m), where you can enjoy the panorama of the Himalayas. Then you will drive along the zigzag road to the Everest Base Camp. Seen from here, Mt. Everest appears like a lofty pyramid surrounded by mountains that touch the sky. On sunny days, a pile of thick clouds, just like a white flag floats lightly above the peak, which is known to be the miracle of 'The Highest Flag Cloud in the World'. We will depart today from your hotel in Lhasa around 08:00. The rode condition is pretty good but because of the speed-limit, we will spend about 6hrs on the road. Tashilunpo Monastery is one of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa (or Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet. Also called the Heap of Glory, the monastery is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), Shigatse. Founded by the First Dailai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. It covers an area of nearly 300,000 square meters. The main structures found in the monastery are Maitreya Chapel, Panchen Lama's Palace and Kelsang Temple. Tashilhunpo is the seat of Panchen Lama since the Fourth Panchen Lama took charge in the monastery, and there are now nearly 800 lamas.
