Itinerary
Lhasa-Gyantse
Be picked up from your hotel in Lhasa... 2 hours
Be picked up from your hotel in Lhasa at 08:00 am, departing for Gyangtse by private vehicle via the Gampa La pass. Pass by the Yarlung Tsangpo River (which becomes the famed Brahmaputra River in India), and drive southwest along the zigzagged road to Kamba-la Pass, which sits at an elevation of 15,518 feet (4,730 meters). Take in views of the famed Yamdrok Lake, one of the largest of Tibet’s three most sacred lakes. Climb high mountain passes and traver scenic valleys populated with yaks, sheep, shrines and villages. Stop for a photo at the Karo-la Pass, elevation 16,900 feet (5,150 meters), and admire the view of Mt Noijin Kangsang and the Karola Glacier. Arrive in Gyangtse in the afternoon and spend the rest of your day at leisure.

In the morning, visit the Pelkhor monastery, famous for its Kumbum Pagoda. Later, climb up to the top and visit the Dazong Fort. Dazong Fort is an ancient fort that’s also home to an Anti-British Imperialists museum. After lunch, begin your 2-hour ride to Shigatse. While you are en route, stop to visit a local Tibetan family to experience and indulge into the daily Tibetan life.
Shigatse-Lhasa
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then visit Pachen... 3 hours
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then visit Pachen Lama's seat place, the large and complex Tashilumpo monastery. Afterwards, briefly visit a charming local market. After lunch, drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tasangpo River. The journey from Shigatse to Lhasa will take approximately 5.5 hours.
